LWC contacts former claimants for possible review of benefits in the event of a pandemic


BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC) will contact nearly 12,000 former unemployment claimants who were previously disqualified for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) benefits to see if expanded eligibility provisions can be made. apply to them, according to Saturday’s press release.

LWC said it would send a message directly to claimants who may be subject to a benefit review through the agency’s HiRE website.

Requesters are encouraged to visit their HiRE message center for guidance and next steps.

The PUA program ended in Louisiana effective July 31, 2021.

They report that only people who were disqualified on a PUA claim filed before April 29, 2021, are part of this awareness and may be eligible for reconsideration.

If you are not contacted by LWC, you are not eligible, they say.

The LWC will consider all requests submitted on a case-by-case basis.

A submitted request does not guarantee payment for services.

Individuals are reminded that information submitted as part of this effort must be truthful and is under penalty of perjury. Any intentional misrepresentation can be considered fraud.

Those found guilty of unemployment insurance fraud may be subject to criminal prosecution.
