After a day’s hiatus, gasoline and diesel prices rose again on Sunday for the twelfth month, according to a price notification by state-owned fuel retailers.
As gasoline prices rose 17 paise to â¹93.21 per liter in Delhi, diesel prices soared to â¹84.07 per liter after the addition of 27 paise.
The tariffs had already crossed the â¹100 brands in several cities of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. With the latest increase, the price in Mumbai was also approaching the level.
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) review fuel prices daily based on international benchmark prices and exchange rates.
The rise comes despite fuel demands that suffered in the first half of May due to the Covid-induced lockdown in several states.
Road transport fuel sales from May 1 to 15 fell by a fifth from the previous month and by around 28% from the same period in 2019, reported Bloomberg.
